Owner's Description
Daredevil #45 features the 3rd appearance of Jester + a hypodermic needle panel + a Statue of Liberty partial photo cover by Gene Colan!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $105.
From the Oregon Coast Collection!
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 438 Universal copies graded, only 64 copies were graded in 9.6 with only 23 copies graded higher in 9.8!
With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of only 14.61% of the total population!
___________________________________________________________
Published in October of 1968—(exactly 10 years before I was born), Gene Colan (penciller) & Frank Giacoia (inker) rendered a stunning Daredevil Vs. Jester battle cover!
By integrating a black and white photograph of the Statue of Liberty as the entire background, Gene Colan was able to strategically position the characters in action around the Statue of Liberty, creating a real-life visual effect that connected fictional characters in a real-world setting!
Furthermore, with the entire background being shades of gray, the deep red, black, green, purple, blue, and yellow colors on Daredevil and the Jester’s suit POP—as if they were flying off the page!

This immaculate looking copy is from the Oregon Coast Collection! The only reason CGC could not recognize this collection as a “Pedigree,” is because the books were primarily published from 1969-1975!
However, within this 7-year timeframe, the Oregon Coast Collection contains some of the brightest, perfectly wrapped and centered and highest-graded copies of NEARLY EVERY MARVEL & DC ISSUE PUBLISHED!
In closing, I purchased this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED copy from Heritage Auctions in March of 2022! I am super proud to own this pristine copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!
Happy Collecting & Enjoy the Hunt!
