Daredevil #176 features the 1st appearance of Stick + the 4th cover appearance of Elektra!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $60.
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 556 Universal copies graded, only 80 copies were graded in 9.8 with 0 copies graded higher!
With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of only 14.39% of the total population!
However, this is the much RARER Newsstand Edition Variant, which you hardly ever see this issue in a CGC 9.8!
In fact, as of this writing, there are NO RECORDED SALES for a CGC 9.8 Newsstand Edition copy on GPAnalysis, and the only copy that sold in recent times was through Comic Link (which they do not report to GPA) on 3/11/2022 for a staggering $1,900.00!

Published in November of 1981, Daredevil #176 features the 1st appearance of Daredevil’s blind martial arts mentor and trainer—Stick! This is the third major character that Frank Miller introduced in his iconic Daredevil #158—#191 run, after introducing us to Elektra (Daredevil #168) and the Hand (Daredevil #174)!
In addition, in just her 4th cover appearance, Elektra is lunging forward with her iconic saís while Daredevil is holding onto a pipe amidst a midnight thunderstorm, as indicated by the yellow lightning strikes on the black background and water leaking into Daredevil’s grimacing face! Furthermore, looming overhead with his katana pointed at Elektra, is the dark ninja assassin Kirigi, who faces his “death” in this important KEY issue!
Moreover, Stick was portrayed on the silver screen by actor Scott Glenn in the critically acclaimed Marvel Daredevil Streaming Series (2015-2018)! He also reprised his role for a total of 6 episodes in Marvel’s Defenders (2017)! Therefore, it’s more than likely we’ll eventually see him again—possibly in “Daredevil: Born Again” (18 episodes), which is scheduled to be released on Disney+ in the Spring of 2024!
In closing, I submitted this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED Newsstand Edition Variant copy to CGC Comics in May of 2023! I was ecstatic when I was informed that I landed the coveted CGC 9.8 NM/M grade! I am super proud to own this immaculate copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!
