Set Description:
I have loved this character ever since I saw the TV show all the way back when it first aired.
When our own daughters were very young we would watch the show together, and I liked sharing my comics with the girls so I started collecting the DC Rudolph series so we could read them together. I started with the DC treasury books, which except for the first one I was able to get in a high grade original owner set.
The 1972 book was much toughter to both find and then get as a nice copy, I had a VG copy for over twenty years before finding the super nice VF+ copy I have today.
The books themselves are unlike anylike anything else I have ever seen from DC. They were published only once per year, have no ads, tons of puzzle pages, and pin up back covers. Some of these back covers are just awesome!
The stories are downright crazy. They are nothing at all like the TV series, but they are a lot of fun to read and the art is very colorful. Our daughters loved reading them with me at Christmas when they were young. They would take turns doing the different characters voices while we read.
These DC Rudolph annuals weren't all that tough to complete, but I found along the way they were insanely hard to find in fine or better. I have slowly been upgrading my original run, and now am four short of having a fine or better set. I have a few nice issues I need to slab to add to this registry set.
I find collecting rare books to be fun and challenging. You have to have tremendous patience and be always looking for the next book. I think completing this will be one of my personal great collecting achievements.
