Set Description:
I started my comic book collecting like many others. I got hooked on the Walking Dead television show and wanted to know more. I had bought a few issues back in the early days, but I really got hooked when I started reading the TPB on my iPad. I finished 1-100 in about 9 days. I started to piece together my collection after I picked up a #100-#103 at my local shop. This was a gateway comic trip, as it has led to many others along the way. I pieced together my collection from local collectors and eBay.
I also ran into a bit of luck, as I found my #1, #3, and #8 in a stack of comics at my local Saver's 2nd hand store mixed into a stack of old Star Wars and Archie books. It is a store that sells all donated items. They were all .50 each. I nearly fainted, because a guy had flipped through them before me and saw nothing of interest. I am currently awaiting them back from the CGC. I know the #1 was a 9.4 or above, because of others that I have. It was very nice and clean.
This has become an obsession of sorts to try and find the best copy that I can for my favorite covers or stories. My favorite cover right now is from #9.
I have started to take a lot of pride in my collection, and in what I really want it to be. I don't have the kind of money to blow on some of these that are pre-graded or signed with sketches, and people want $100's of dollars on ebay for them. I felt this calm come over me when I got #1 back from the graders, that really sat well with me, as it was a raw book that I found and sent in. My find! My book! Not something that someone else found and sent in. There is a certain level of purity in it.
I am very high strung, and have OCD. So when I collect something, I don't just half-ass it, I fucking collect it. The completionist in me will be at bay and in control when it comes to buying these remaining issues, unless it something special.
