Description of item from original owner:
"GORGEOUS NEAR PERFECT SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #1, CGC 9.6 (should have been 9.8) NEAR MINT PLUS WITH WHITE PAGES.
BARRY SMITH, ROY THOMAS; 3rd APPEARANCE OF RED SONJA by NEAL ADAMS / ESTEBAN MAROTO; BLACKMARK by GIL KANE; KING KULL ARTICLE by GLEN LORD.
THIS BOOK WAS HAND PICKED IN 1974 FROM A STACK OF ABOUT 100 COPIES AT THE DISTRIBUTORS WAREHOUSE BEFORE THEY WERE SENT OUT TO THE STORES."
I fully agree that this books looks like a 9.8 - which is why I currently have not upgraded to an official CGC 9.8, since the only thing that would change to my naked eye would be the number on the CGC label. To be frank, this book looks without a doubt better than many of the 9.8 books I have listed in this set. And the centering is so close to absolute perfection that I have not yet found a better book at 9.8.

Well, although this book does not have pure white pages it is an extremely beautiful and pristine copy. The centering is near-perfect and the cover has great and deep colors.

In July 2018 6 of these mags were registered in 9.6 and none better. This mag is part of the Suscha News Pedigree Collection and has pure white pages. Thus this mag - so far - may be the finest #11 ever CGC'd.
In the mag:
1. Conan stars in "The Abode of the Damned." Script by Roy Thomas, pencils by John Buscema, inks by Yong Montano. Adapted from the non-Conan Robert E. Howard story "The Country of the Knife."
2. "El Borak and the Barbarians." Article by Fred Blosser, illustrations by Michael Kaluta.
3. Fred Blosser and Roy Thomas review Robert E. Howard zines in "The Scribes of Hyboria" with illustrations by Steve Fabian, John Severin, Roy Krenkel, and Frank Cirocco.
4. Ed Summer reviews a Conan record album in "Conan and the Tower of Vinyl" with illustrations by Tim Conrad and Krenkel.
Boris Vallejo frontispiece. Ken Barr cover.
Cover price $1.00.

This mag is simply breathtakingly beautiful - and possibly my favorite Vallejo cover.
In this mag Conan stars in:
1. "The Haunters of Castle Crimson." Script by Roy Thomas, pencils by John Buscema, inks by Alfredo Alcala. Adapted from the non-Conan Robert E. Howard story "The Slave Princess."
2. The Hyborian Age (part 3): "The Hyborian Kingdoms." Script by Roy Thomas, art by Walt Simonson. Adapted from the Howard essay. "Chivalry is Alive and Well and Living in Berkeley Among Others."
Furthermore the mag contains an article by Sam Maronie and a Tim Conrad frontispiece.
Boris Vallejo cover. Cover price $1.00.
