Set Description:
Plenty of 1sts and mashups! Some were still easy to find cheap as late as 2015, in the $1or $5 bins as raws to read, but still, if you want them to be Near Mint, better bring your "A" game! Many inspirational stories lay some groundwork for the future in movies, comics and over all the lore of the realm. Complete with character building and the fleshing out of certain characters. They tried to pick and choose who gets the continuation treatment, but this series has some 1st appearances as well!
They create, oh what is the word I'm looking for, oh ya, Suspense Tales! That has a ring to it, and put in the right order, Marvel makes something of it with 1sts and 2nds, staying ahead of the game!
"Tales" to me always implied one offs or a type of story with the spin that these were in the off days comparatively to the then main hero titles. They had their importance, and rather than make them all one-shot issues back then, it was meant to incorporate into the bigger main story title and with any hero available or those that would then "make the grade." Distribution back then was just as much about the sales of an issue, hence these tales were of the heroes type category and the characters that found themselves helping each other out towards common goals. Mostly some Iron Man and other soon Avengers, but in some cases, it did introduce characters that in themselves helped the main storyline. In the case of Peggy Carter there were soon to be love tales, while in the air of heroics and thrusts of the common good in the way the heroes became more dramatically driven.

1st Appearance of the "Black Widow" (Natasha Romanoff) I believe that she actually starts off a "bad" person or "villain", but after the branding she is then rebranded for the Avengers!! Brought to life in the movie theater as essential and useful, does she survive Thanos? Ah a Detached Cover that is unfortunate. It still presents very well. Scarlett Johannsen did a very good portrayal in theaters, with somewhat of a passing of a torch. Black Widow as a character is a Karate Kicking female trained in several disciplines. She works in the Avengers, for the government, and on her own. She follows and leads towards goals of different cultures, usually with the mind to do well and good; to help save as a hero. She not only works but doesn't often enough find personal time. There has since been the 2nd appearance available, but it is not too easily found in the wild.
Complete with a back cover picture of the statue of Black Widow in her updated costume, supplied by my brother Christmas circa 2023! It's a statue Christmas! She shows and gives solitude in full force although she has also become a team player.
Grader Notes:
detached cover;
heavy creasing to cover;
heavy spine stress lines to cover;
moderate staining to cover.

1st Full Appearance of Peggy Carter and Ultimo. Supported my LCS (Titan Comics) during the coronavirus scare! He had just reopened in Texas. Peggy Carter played a role in the Avengers films. Poor CAP (Captain America) is smitten! Love, it is what makes the world go around. Captain America has been pretty faithful with his love interests too. From protecting to honoring their memory, to just fighting a never-ending battle in the Name of America! Sometimes it is the early on infatuation that sticks. Don't forget Ultimo, taking to task the duo in the book. A hefty behemoth on the cover, tall and menacing. Tales of Suspense are classic issues that are mostly made up of older characters and villains. Very collectable and not always found in grade. Many firsts, as a lot of characters are getting their footing, are gaining experiences and character building too.
Complete with a back cover picture of a similar type run of issues that mirrored Tales of Suspense, which were called Tales to Astonish! There are some fun-loving firsts and cool covers to boot, they are both from Marvel, so they don't exactly compete in the market other than reading about loved characters! This is a $5 bin issue from the used bookstore found in 2017. Those were the days! Featuring the 1st app of Marvel's Boomerang character.
Grader Notes:
crease right bottom of front cover breaks color;
crease spine breaks color;
moderate tanning interior cover.

Nick Fury appearance. Avengers cameo. The "Furiosa" in a "death" of Fury all bearing down on the cover. On the uptake is Captain America with the one, two punch, and that is how you take out the two for tango! Light on his feet Fury gives what for, in Tales of Suspense #92. Out for a mid-day movie and going by the Local Comic Shop, Titan Comics, early June with my brother. Rainy day of storms sums up with some good eats and $60 for a slab. All worthy endeavors when the thrill of the hunt is on, and to make some lasting impressions and memories along the way! Comic-Con is next weekend, and the anticipation is building for fun and frivolity this summer 2024! Avengers made that impression and a chance for a future with and concerning Nick Fury, and it looks like a positive! With mischief from within the government already concerning Agents of Shield, comes the Avengers, and time will tell if it is mutually beneficial and or for the public as well.
Complete with a back cover picture of the ticket stub to "Mad Max: Furiosa!" Which is a prequel to the last Mad Max me and my brother saw in theaters, to be remembered fondly, I'm sure!
Grader Notes:
Back Cover Small Chip Out;
Front Cover Small Chip Out;
Interior Lite Cover Tanning;
Right Top Front Cover Small Lite Crease Breaks Color.

1st appearance of M.O.D.O.K. (George Tarleton). Titanium Man appearance. Classic Character that has made its way from comics to video games, to making airtime of the internet streaming! Yes indeed, it's time for some sobering effects that are the Modok "MO" that makes the kids laugh and come back for more. Adults need only see the look on his face when the antics arise to know that the situation is seriously implemented to take course in the hearts and minds. Streaming these days have become back seat drivers, not unlike AC/DC with a "backseat rhythm" of rib-tickling laughter! To those inclined will the Yellow Head of "DEATH" be formidable in the end? It is expected to bust a gut and vein of tyranny. Love these classics, reimagined or not, that take the old and spontaneously combust to form a "team". Bought from LCS Titan Comics 2023 for $182, and yes that is a bargain at the "today price", blessings!
Complete with a back cover picture of my favorite "clerk!" A Comic Book Men show signed photo, from Dave and Adam's website, and with a C.O.A. sticker. Because "ThWaCkK!" It is a formidable Captain America type punch, as he was a common and main character, for some odd reason I didn't think he did that many teamups! Early on people couldn't put it down! The TV show Comic Book Men highlighted characters the world over, and "MinG" was the fun quiet one.
Grader Notes:
light creasing to cover;
light staining to cover;
light wear to cover.
