Rip has his own series and it all starts out with a great story by Jack Miller and a great cover by R. Andru and M. Esposite. That there dino. just pops off the cover with the great coloring used on the cover. You will be seeing a lot of scans of the inside of the Time Sphere as I like seeing how it changes from issue to issue. I hate to say it but this is my third CGC slab of this issue. I started with a low grade and kept trying to up grade. It ends with this one as it's very well centered with eye popping color and any more up-grades would cost more than I can afford. This was picked off from eBay in 2001 for way to much money.

This is the first cover that really lets us get a good look at the Time Sphere. It was shown on the cover of #1 but it was in the background and really tiny. The Rip Hunter series was filled with little one page fact and tid-bit pages. The series was educational in it's use of real people in its fictional stories. There are 41 graded copies of this issue with 10 in 8.0 and less if you go up or down from there. Very happy with my 8.5.

This is an issue that is hard to find in high grade due to the black cover. I was very pleased to come up with this copy and its 9.0 grade.
Many panels of the Time Sphere along with a lot of figures from the history book.

Wow, I have an issue without a date stamp on the front cover. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind date stamps as I think they add a little history on how thing were done back then. (As a side bar, I wonder what the most recent date stamp is on a CGC graded comic.) This is the fourth issue of this copy I've owned and the first without a date stamp. The other three all had date stamps right over Bonnies head. Great splash page,

This isn't my pick as best cover but close to it. I think someone could make a cool collection of all the comics where humans are in a cage on display.
Before I got out of collecting Batman comics I had a great issue where The Bat and Robin where in the same situation.
This is one action-packed issue with almost every panel showing some form of hecktic action scene.

Great cover by Bill Ely. This is the first issue were the gang gets to use their new outfits. They look kind of Christmasy and I don't like the shoes at all.
When I got my reading copy of this of issue I was really looking forward to seeing Bonnie in her new costume but they never really show a full body shot of her.
I'd have to read all my issues again to make sure but I think this is the first kiss between the two lovers.

Wow, two great covers for the price of one. Poor Rip. What's it going to be, Betty or Veronica, Mary Ann or Ginger, Cleopatra or Bonnie, I think in the end he'll go with Bonnie. Another Aurora ad cover on the back and Frankie almost looks friendly.

Well, it's the last issue for Rip and my two scans aren't even of him or have anything to do with the story. The inside back cover has an ad to join the G.I.Joe Club and a picture of two of the most looked for G.I.Joe action figure outfits out there. Wish I had jioned the club and picked up all of the outfits for sale in 1965. The back cover also has a classic ad for Aurora models. It's the classic "Great Moments In Sports" line with a Babe Ruth swat, or in this case a SLAM!. Hey, I have an idea, lets all jump in Rips time sphere and go back to 1965 and buy a crap load of G.I.Joes and Aurora models, come back and sell them on eBay. As far as the story goes it's not that great. There's this little bug and then it's huge. Rip goes back in time and there's these huge people and some little people. Rip goes back and all the bugs are huge and Rip saves the day, yada yada yada. I guess it was time for this series to end but oh what a ride it was. Pick this one up at a Heritage auction.
