Set Description:
Like Steve Harvey always says, "We've got another good one for you today!" It's the New Avengers from 2005, packed tight with 1st appearances, and other surprises as well. Got to find them all! Some even very common to find, as recent they were released. They are being snapped up fast, and not to anyone's surprise. A few firsts, guaranteed to keep CGC busy. The plots, new, and the demand, strong.
Spider-woman, Maria Hill, and a Ronin, this set just isn't big enough; although, the comics may come cheap now, they did serve a purpose and with some quality reads!
Avengers slide the "new" under the door and sneak it in with some X-men following and we've got first appearances and happenings to ponder. While shaking events occur to then see what stands, it is the kindness to see the plot thicken as we all run to the dollar bins. Times change and values rise or diminish, in the collecting avenues we ourselves become infatuated with the thrill of the hunt. Coming by it honestly as there are flea markets, used bookstores, estate sales, local comic stores, and yes, even people holding signs on street corners. It couldn't get more action packed to support your then neighbor to see what issues of New Avengers he has got! Packing it all into tiny living space, we have a focus with niches along the way to peruse and enjoy! That hits the spot!

First appearance of Maria Hill. Wolverine cameo. These New Avengers issues are taking the world by storm! Lucky enough to have found them cheaper in bin dives, these issues are now being graded at CGC. Yes, 9.2 is nothing to sneeze at, found at a favorite DVD store of mine, "this'll do pig!" Give me the bargain hunting $4 key book, any day. Coming up empty more often than not, makes a weary traveler all that much more appreciate the reward. Maria, ah my Maria! Yes, with a David Finch cover of the Spider-Woman to boot! That is all well and good, even if just a funky series of them, when the "New Avengers" are trying to fill out the roster with newer members, as not all are qualified! These New Avengers are serving it up hot with the Spider-Woman becoming relevant and heating up the covers. Take that all day long, especially when boardie F for Fake confirmed that he picked up these issues too. They were not all that popular at the time. Of Course!
Complete with a back cover picture of the Street Fighter Sideshow statue of, "Sakura!" Showing a fighting stance in spirit, which also graces most Spider-Woman covers, and both being a bit of a tomboy, these are the street fighting thwarters of crime as the sweepers of the leg! A Ryu and Ken fangirl at an age of 16, Sakura is showing that role models go mostly after their original mentors for tutelage, and Spider-Woman is no stranger to that role of heroics!

$2.99 Newsstand Edition. 1st appearance of Maria Hill. Electro appearance. Wolverine cameo on last page. A Half Price Books find of this issue, that is the back cover picture of my direct version in raw form. I HAD TO SEND IT IN FOR GRADING. Not finding many examples of this, or none to choose from to buy in higher grade and I need to take the win for dollar bin diving while I can. I found if for $2 only, and that is a spicy meatball! Some fun reading time in store, with a cameo of Wolverine on the last page or someone with claws! Glad to have an example even in F/VF grade! This being found the week of Thanksgiving 2022, and sent in the comic con month of 2023, which really isn't waiting too long to slab. I just couldn't resist it any longer, as it was nice to see some pretty modern "newsstands" within the bins! A lot of love shared, to not give up and stick with it, as it can be pretty rewarding even when coming up empty, although even those little wins are for the fun of it! Not pressed.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Musica!" Starring 29-year-old Maria Mancuso, in a coming-of-age rom com! Seeing how the actress who played Maria Hill in the Agents of Shield show became known for the How I Met Your Mother TV show, which is of similar comedy romance style, and we've got a song with "Maria, Oh! My Sweet Marie!" Loving kindness and some comedy folly is always swift justice for single "agents" having an evening out!
Grader Notes:
moderate bends to cover;
moderate creasing to cover;
moderate spine stress lines to cover.

1st appearance of the "Illuminati." Got to love a dark secret organization with a exacerbating name, too much? Given I got this at the Dallas 2021 Comic Con, I'm happy the grade wasn't hammered. I knew it wasn't NM +, but NM? I'll take it! Got it raw from Vendor Duncanville Bookstore, and glad it fit well with the theme of affordability lol. Still getting it home safe was quite a chore. Illuminati has been rumored over the years to exist, anywhere from back alleys to secret rooms. The comics give them life and shed some light as to what it means for the New Avengers of 2005. Oh Ya! Spider-woman is gracing the cover, I'm glad to see some use put to this character. Seemingly, been out of the game too long to remember! Good Times. These days we need "new" titles that take an interest in being well articulated and illustrated to once again revive the back issue bin!
Complete with a back cover picture of the Frank Cho covers in the run, issue #14 & #15. Some nice lookers at least, keeping the dollar bins alive! Striking run for some eventful happenings with the "New Avengers!"
Grader Notes:
light foreign substance left bottom of back cover;
light scuff left bottom of front cover.

Spider-Woman solo story. Maria Hill appearance. Falcon, Stature, Daredevil (Iron Fist), Cloak & Dagger cameo. A rainy Spring Break 2024 setting up for an eventful year of the Lord, reigning in a 9.8 for barter! I had some $2 cost reads that were minor keys at $10 each raw value, and rather than do the hard work of listing myself, I decided to mosey on down to the LCS and try my hand there. At about 8 issues I ended up with trade value of $5 a piece and that is what reigns in the supporting of the LCS, when this slab itself was only $20 in cost. A Naomi #6 slab was picked up as well for the same cost! Barter! I like the cover and had seen it there before, and who knows, maybe filling out runs in slab form will be a new progression. When affording the start to Spring Break and with chores to do, it is nice to treat yourself to a hobby of fruitful like gestures! Strike while the iron is hot!
Complete with a back cover picture of more Spiders than to shake a stick at, in anyone's decision-making tumult of web! These issues all lead toward Jessica Drew who is considered the "1st Spider-female"!" She appeared first in Marvel Spotlight 32 and appears here in this issue of New Avengers, but since then, "many" have come and gone. Namely this back cover picture of the 1st appearance of the 2nd Scarlett Spider, who is the daughter of the Black Cat, her name being Felecity Hardy. "Illuminating" issues that poke a stick at the family web-tree, where it all stays close to the vest. Jessica Drew being hard pressed as the 1st ever Spider of the female variety is after a kind that has stood firm in stories over the years!

1st appearance of the "New Ronin." I'm wondering how long they can have that designation, given a Ronin's life span. I mean, doesn't there always end up a "new ronin", eventually? I scratch my head at that, nonetheless, here we are with that Ronin doing his duty! It ends up getting attention in this 2005 series, that went on for quite a stretch. I'm hoping there is a continuation. Found raw at 2021 comic con in Dallas, from vendor Duncanville Bookstore. Priced right, I knew it was not NM +, yet sometimes we take what we can find, and or, get. Long for this world I hope that LCS lives on. Soon to come up on the con in 2022, I hope to pick up more there too! Ronin is the Name, and this cover doesn't disappoint, to show the relevancy! A bit of slowdown in value with all the titles having "new" in their title, but the readership did enjoy them and at the end of the day nostalgia will kick in!
Complete with another raw I found, which might be an upgrade, for $11 with tax at half price books. I hope that it makes a transition in grade to be an upgrade, although it might be worth buying a 9.6/9.8 slab to get it over with, idk. The picture is of the insides to this issue of course! With Ronin making an entrance to crash the party!
Grader Notes:
dent left bottom of front cover through book;
large, very light indent top of back cover.
