Silver Age Marvel War Greatness

When I was on a middle school field trip to Austin, Texas, we toured the campus of UT which included the LBJ library and the UT bookstore. In the bookstore, there was a spindle rack with used comic books and I picked up several including issue 5 of Captain Savage and His Leatherneck Raiders. I was hooked then and still have the well-read beater copy from UT.

In this set of eighteen issues, nine are the highest graded, including two books that are the single highest graded. The other nine issues are the second highest grade.

Sixteen of the books are pedigrees. Nine Rocky Mountains. Six Suscha News. One Winnipeg.

Currently, the registry set has one error as it does not contain a spot for issue 17. Of course there was an issue 17 and there has been one 9.8 graded with the next highest grade being two books in 9.0

Single Highest Graded. The Rocky Mountain pedigree copy wins this round over the Suscha News Pedigree. The Rocky Mountain is the only 9.8 and the Suscha News is one of only two 9.6s.

The Rocky Mountain and the Suscha News copies are tied for second highest graded with one other 9.6 behind only one 9.8 copy. If I had to make a decision, I would pick the Suscha News copy over the Rocky Mountain because of slighty better cover centering.
