This is where it all started, in the last issue of a cancelled comic book. In August of 1962, the world was introduced to Peter Parker and Spider-man who would arguably become one of the three most important comic book characters between DC and Marvel.
This 6.0 features a well-wrapped cover with remarkable gloss and vibrant colors along with nice straight chip free edges and off-white to white pages.
When I joined CGC I was asked what my most desired collectable would be. I forgot until after I purchased this book that I wrote that I would like a copy of Amazing Fantasy 15 in a 5.5-6.0.

This was one of the last books I needed in order to complete my original collection. I purchased this around 2002 from the Pacific Comic Exchange. Perhaps I will upgrade this one day.

Dr. Doom! Early Spider-man and early doom. If you have ever read the book then you know it was a time when they were still trying to get both characters "just" right.

This was another great book. Originally I had a 2.5 restored but the collector urge in me screamed for a slight upgrade. Upgrade I did. I also have a 4.5 in my collection aside from the 2.5R and the 5.5 here.

Purchased off of Comiclink. This was the last of the first ten that I needed in order to have a unrestored set of Amazing Spiderman 1-10. The colors really pop on this issue.

2nd Appearance of Doc Ock. While I am happy to own this book, I cannot help but notice that Doc Ock looks like a fat fifth Beatle on the cover.

One of my favorite covers of all time, I wanted a higher grade copy than the G-VG copy I could afford as a teenager. I picked this up in March of 2012 off a ComicLink auction.

1st appearance of Kraven the Hunter. Kraven's origin may be here but his best storyline was in the story arc, "Kraven's Last Hunt."

Ok, I have a soft spot for this cover. The coloring makes the issue pop and in the early days of Spider-man, this was one of the finer issues that showcased Ditko's cover storytelling by showing that teenage Peter Parker was in over his head as a new Superhero.

Is this not one of the iconic Ditko covers? This is an issue that has always been on my radar to one day upgrade to at least a 9.0.

Issue 20 heralded the first appearance of the Scorpion, and under appreciated villain in the Spider-man mythos. This specific issue was picked up from a fellow board member in a great deal that helped me inch closer to completing this run.

This was one of the first Silver Age Spider-man issues I ever purchased when making my run for a complete ASM set. It will always be a memorable issue for me because I had noticed a distinct difference in style from the McFarlane drawn issues with their complex and intricate detail that I had become used to. It made me realize that sometimes simplistic can be just as effective as a storytelling device.

You know what annoyed me? Submitting a book to CGC that I bought as a kid only for it to come back as restored. What did I do about it? I went out and bought a 8.5 Universal as an upgrade. The best parts about this book are the deep blue cover and the ability of Ditko to tell a story with his cover while not requiring the main character to be present on the cover.
