As I look to complete my ASM collection, some older books I will collect raw, while others I will collect graded. This comic and its classic cover was always one I looked forward to collecting, and with the book looking very clean, I thought I'd send it in for grading. I expected a higher grade for this book, but I will take the grade and the ability to display it with the CGC label.

As I close in on completing my set of ASM Vol. 1, I'll likely look to buy them slabbed as opposed to raw. There are just too many fakes out there to spend this kind of money and be duped. I now have all ASMs from 50-441, and look to continue to go back from here.

I originally owned this as a CGC 9.4 universal slab. But when my nephew told me he was going to attend an Ace Comic Con in AZ and Stan Lee was there...well, this seemed like a perfect opportunity. The big surprise came when my universal 9.4 came back as an SS 9.6 after a press! I was worried it might even go down due to the handling during the signature process, so I'm super excited at the bump!
Definitely one of the most prized items in my collection.

I originally had an ASM 129 in CGC 7.0 grade, but sold it for some quick cash. Being able to upgrade to an 8.5 a few years later is very cool. We're on our way to collecting every book in ASM Vol. 1!

This comic holds a special place in my heart as I was in my teenage years when this book came out. This was when I was still in my initial fascination with comics, and the mystery and intrigue I had when reading this book still sticks with me.
I had planned to get this book signed by JR JR at a con in 2020, but COVID had other ideas. Maybe I'll still get him to sign it at some point in the future.

I originally had this book in a 9.2 universal grade, but when Todd McFarlane was doing a signing for CGC, I knew this was the time to send it in. I had it pressed as part of the signing process, and imagine my surprise when it climbed from a 9.2 to a 9.4! Very excited to have this book in my collection!
