This spin-off series has been fun to collect as a sidebar while I collected the main series.
The series started with a sneak preview in GI Joe issue #50 and continued for 28 issues.
I currently have 22 issues (and issue 50) in CGC 9.8 SS - signed by Hama, Trimpe, and Zeck.
The remaining 6 are in CGC 9.8 and waiting for signatures!

Double signed by Zeck & Beatty - Issue 50 - FIRST APPEARANCE OF SPECIAL MISSIONS - Terrorists have hijacked a plane leaving from San Francisco. Hawk and Stalker visit the terrorists headquarters to get the information about the group. Beach Head, Lade Jaye and Flint get on board and take out the terrorist preventing an international crisis with Russia.
GI Joe has launched a full blown assault on Springfield, Cobra's headquarters. Hawk's Strike team makes its way to the Museum, where they rescue Rip Cord, and discover that Cobra has created the ultimate soldier, Serpentor. Storm Shadow is revived and escapes with the Dreadnoks. Cobra completely evacuates Springfield leaving GI Joe with a destroyed town and nothing to show for it.

Signed by Larry Hama - & Herb Trimpe - On a training mission, probationary Joes Lightfoot and Mangler along with Outback and Dusty are sent to destroy a secret weapons depot. They are all ambushed, captured; Lightfoot is tortured and then released. They press on with the mission, and succeed but as they are escaping Mangler sacrifices himself in so the rest of the team can escape.

The October Guard is attacking a Cobra/Iron Grenadier base in order to capture El Jefe; the Joes are disguised as peasants working near the base. After El Jefe is captured, Col. Brekhov, Horrorshow, Schrage and Stormavik sacrifice their lives to allow a train carrying El Jefe, Diana, Dragonsky, the Joes and N.A.B.M. official Dilbert Swinson to get to safety. The remaining Guard and Joes are then captured as El Jefe sides with Swinson.

The Joes are sent to Mexico to drop off some paperwork disguised as tourists. Quick Kick and Outback are on a tour when their bus is attacked by local rebels. They fight back with nothing but tricks and hands. Stalker shows up crashing a helicopter as diversion that frees them.
