Alan Moore story, Dave Gibbons cover and art
The first appearance of the oft-maligned Black Freighter comic (as read by Bernie, the ungrateful stooge keeping the newsvendor company). This issue also tells the tale of Dr. Manhattan's "self-imposed" exhile to Mars. The final excerpts from "Under The Hood" cover the last four pages.

Alan Moore story, Dave Gibbons cover and art, Origin of Doctor Manhattan
Issue number four is probably the most innovative story of the entire mini-series. Alan Moore brilliantly jumps from decade to decade to illustrate the origin of the devine Doctor Manhattan.
A complicated story. Purchased as a raw from comicdey who sent the comic to CGC himself. Came back as a 9.6. After my inspection, I noticed a long bend on the back cover that could possibly be pressed out. Sent to Matt Nelson at Classics Incorporated who performed the pressing then sent it to CGC. Came back as a 9.6. I still believed in this beauty so I decided not to sell it. I eventually sent it to EvilAsh to get signed by Dave Gibbons at NYCC '09. Came back as a 9.8 SS. Thanks again to everyone involved in this comic's quest to become a sparkling Signature Series 9.8!

Alan Moore story, Dave Gibbons cover and art, "Death" of Rorschach and Bubastis
The ambiguous conclusion to an epic story. Surprisingly, only one major character dies and it's not who you'd think. A great final page lends itself to an alternate outcome.
