Even though this first issue from 1/52 has the old style format its still has a decent cover. It shows a combat fatigued soldier and a couple of dead enemy in the foreground. A neat touch is the rifle with bayonet stuck in the bank. War Adventures covers are about to take a drastic turn starting with the next issue.
There is rarely any information noted on the CGC labels for any Atlas war comics so it was unusual that this issue has noted on the label "art by Robert Q Sale"
I looked Mr Sale up on-line but there was no entry for him yet in Wikipedia as of 05/15

The second issue shows us one of the larger mass infantry attacks on a war comic cover!
There are larger hordes shown on the cover of a few of the Atlas Battle comics but this one was the one of the first.
Some of the details include: three enemy soldier have advanced right to the front of the U.S. lines, all three have been shot point blank (including one in the act of throwing a grenade). One American has been shot and another seems dazed and confused and is having trouble attaching his bayonet, Great action cover !
Again this comic has rarely seen Atlas war label notes, mentioning art by Robert Q. Sale and Russ Heath, and a story by Hank Chapman.

Atlas war comics cannot be accused of propaganda with a cover like this. Not many, made in the USA comics are going to show a group of American soldiers being wiped out as this one does

Men against tank, rare cover to actually show a dead US soldier (maybe just wounded)
A nice CGC 7.0 from a submission

Two enemy soldier are being dispatched in extreme agony on the cover of this issue. With a cover date of 09/52 this comic was issued right during the height of the Korean war

The broken neck shown on this cover is as grotesque as pre code war allows, he is practically beheaded. The American soldier is putting on an one man army display mowing down a charging group of enemy soldiers .

Men vs tank cover. I think it's tough to get higher grades on comics with white backgrounds from the golden age

Some of my favorite Atlas war covers are ones like this one: a pause in the action cover
This one shows great reflectivity both in the soldiers face and from the fire glowing in the background
The snowy, blackish-blue coloring makes the War Adventures logo effectively stand out.
The soldier has had time to heat up a cup of coffee but still holds his gun as near as his battered cup, so the fighting for this night might not yet be over.
A great cover/
