1-leu 1966 was used from 1966 to 1992, one of the longest series in circulation in modern times. The Banknote has a nice guilloche design with Romania coat of arms. The banknote size is 103 x 52 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. This banknote circulated in parallel with 1 leu coin, thus the low series range from 0001 to 0038. The first series were issued with narrow letter in the prefix, later, a wide letter was used. The banknote included in the set is using wide letter E. The banknote is graded 68 EPQ, it is the second-best grade (the Top Pop is graded 68EPQ*). Personal Note: Similar banknotes I had frequently in my hand during my childhood, for candies.

3 lei 1966 was used from 1966 to 1992, one of the longest series in circulation in modern times. The Banknote has a nice guilloche design with Romania coat of arms. The banknote size is 114 x 57 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. This banknote circulated for a brief time being replaced by a 3 lei coin; thus is the most expensive banknote in the series, the series ranges from 0001 to 0011 were only issued with narrow letter in the prefix. The banknote is graded 68 EPQ, it is a Top Pop banknote. Personal Note: During my childhood I have received 3 lei banknotes especially during Christmas.

The banknote size is 131 x 65 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. The series ranges from 0001 to 0356, one of the most popular banknotes in the era. The first series were issued with narrow letter in the prefix, later, a wide letter was used. The banknote included in the set is using wide letter D. The banknote is graded 68 EPQ, it is a Top Pop banknote.

The banknote size is 124 x 62 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. This banknote circulated in parallel with 5 lei coin from 1978. The series ranges from 0001 to 0195. The first series were issued with narrow letter in the prefix, later, a wide letter was used. The banknote included in the set is using narrow letter C. The banknote is graded 68 EPQ, it is a Top Pop banknote. Personal note: I have used many of these banknotes when purchasing books and stamps.

The Banknote has a nice guilloche design with Romania coat of arms, on the front is illustrated the portrait of Tudor Vladimirescu, a great Romanian revolutionary hero, the leader of the Wallachian uprising of 1821; on the back is illustrated the Iron Works in Hunedoara, Romania being at that time one of the top steel producers in Europe. The banknote size is 140 x 70 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. The series ranges from 0001 to 0125. The first series were issued with narrow letter in the prefix, later, a wide letter was used. The banknote included in the set is using wide letter E. The banknote is graded 68 EPQ, it is a Top Pop banknote. Personal note: One day, during my childhood I met one of my uncles on my way to the numismatics and philately shop which gifted me a 25 lei banknote specifically to buy stamps and a stamp album. I still have that stamp album in my collection remembering my uncle great gesture.

The Banknote has a nice guilloche design with Romania coat of arms, on the front is illustrated the portrait of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the first domnitor (ruler) of the Romanian Principalities through his double election as prince of Moldavia on 5 January 1859 and prince of Wallachia on 24 January 1859, which resulted in the unification of the two states; he was a prominent figure of the Revolution of 1848 in Moldavia. On the back is illustrated the Palace of Culture in Iasi, an astonishing architecture in a flamboyant Neo-Gothic style. The banknote size is 145 x 72 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. The series ranges from 0003 to 0067; Due to relatively small number of issued banknotes, the 50 lei banknote is the second most wanted in the 1966 series. The Banknote has a nice guilloche design with Romania coat of arms, on the front is illustrated the portrait of Nicolae Balcescu, a Romanian Wallachian soldier, historian, journalist, and leader of the 1848 Wallachian Revolution. On the back is illustrated the gorgeous Romanian Athenaeum, which charms with its imposing grandeur and meticulous design by the French architect, Albert Galleron, which skillfully blended French neoclassical and ancient Greek architectural influences to create a visually stunning landmark. The banknote size is 153 x 75 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. The series ranges from 0002 to 0242. The first series were issued with narrow letter in the prefix, later, a wide letter was used. The banknote included in the set is using wide letter C. The banknote is graded 67 EPQ, it is a second-best grade (Top Pop is 68EPQ). Personal Note: This was the most common banknote kept for savings by the Romanian population.
