Well circulated with some minor rust and repair work. Edwardsville is the county seat of Madison County named in honor of Ninian Edwards, then Governor of the Illinois Territory.

Dover, NJ The N Union B Ch. # (E)2076 Abnormal Border Variety PMG 35 $10 1882 BB Fr. 485 SN 8293/K670677K pp C/15 dtd. Dec. 20, 1892. A highly elusive Brown Back in any grade for this Morris County bank. This happens to be a much nicer example, showing outstanding margins on the front, albeit uneven margins on the back due to a slight mis-alignment while printing the face. Generally decent signatures may be seen aside from staining that partially obscures the cashier's neat penmanship. Signers ...

Owner's Description:
Lewistown, PA Citizens NB of Ch. # (E)5289 PMG 25 $10 1882 VB Fr. 577 SN 6197/U958335 pp E/146 dtd. Feb. 27, 1900. The Citizens is a scarce bank--this is only the second $10 Value Back to be reported. Evenly circulated and problem free with nice color and margins. Ten Dollars and National Bank are reminiscent of Walcutt's Gp 16 plate note of Towanda, PA (also the Citizens NB). The A in Dollars has the diagonal crossbar and the E in Ten matches the E in Five. Letters for NB have spikes on top a...

This is the only $20 Brown Back reported from a none too common bank that opened in 1865 and closed in 1916. It is seen with bold signatures of A.H. (Albert) Tetlow, Cashier and Seth L.
