(3) AU58'S AND (3) MS61'S FINER OVERALL PER THE NGC CENSUS AS OF 8/2022.

THIS TYPE IS VERY TOUGH TO FIND IN DECENT CONDITION, THEY MUST HAVE BEEN ALMOST ALL POCKET PIECES. MY FATHER-IN-LAW'S FAMILY ARE FROM SUMTER, SC. THIS MEDAL IS VERY SPECIAL TO ME.

AN AU 58 NGC GRADED EXAMPLE WAS SOLD BY STACKS BOWERS FOR $460.00.

AN NGC GRADED MS 61 EXAMPLE WAS SOLD BY HERITAGE AUCTIONS FOR $432.00.

SOUTH CAROLINA INTER-STATE AND WEST INDIAN EXPOSITION 1901-1902, CHARLESTON, SC

Purpose: To advertise city's port, geographical position and potential for trade with West Indies and Central and South America in effort to recapture its "former commercial position", Charleston's prosperity having lagged behind that of many other southern communities.
