Owner Comments:

PCGS HAD ORIGINALLY GIVEN THIS MEDAL AN UNCIRCULATED DETAILS PL GRADE BECAUSE IT WAS HOLED. NGC HAS NOW GIVEN IT A FULL MS 61 GRADE, BUT NO PROOF LIKE DESIGNATION. I FEEL THAT THIS MEDAL IS WORTHY OF A PL DESIGNATION. IT IS SO REFLECTIVE THAT IT IS HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH!!!

STACKS BOWERS SOLD ANOTHER MS 61 EXAMPLE OF THIS MEDAL FOR $402.50.

THIS SO-CALLED DOLLAR TYPE IS TOUGHER THAN MOST COLLECTORS REALIZE.

PAN-AMERICAN EXPOSITION 1901, BUFFALO, NY BUFFALO DOLLAR IN BRASS.

Purpose: To promote "trade and social relations" with our Pan-American neighbors

Official Medals struck in Mint Exhibit on grounds; designed by George Thomas Brewster.

It will be remembered that tragedy struck the Exposition and the Nation on Sept. 6, 1901. President William McKinley, 25th President of the United States, was greeting citizens late that afternoon in Temple of Music when shot down by Leon Czolgosz, anarchist terrorist. The President died Sept. 14.
