Colorized Tiger Cub design on the reverse.
Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy on the obverse.
Tigers are the largest cats on planet Earth, and their habitats consist largely of lush, dense jungles on two different continents. The Siberian Tiger is perhaps the most well-known subspecies in the world, and is found throughout the Asian continent. The Sumatran Tiger is one of the most endangered subspecies within the tiger family, and largely inhabits the Indian subcontinent.
On the obverse is the image of a pair of tiger cubs playing in a field. The colorized portions of the image include the tigers and the field in the background, while distant trees and a structure in the far background remain in pure silver finish. The lone engraving on this face is the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark.
The reverse face of the coin features the fourth-generation depiction of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this depiction is surrounded by engravings that include the coin’s weight, purity, metal content, year of issue, nation of issue, face value, and Her Majesty’s name.
