Owner Comments:
Seneca Falls was first settled in 1787 at the northern tip of Cayuga lake, which at just under 40 miles is the longest of the Finger Lakes in the state of New York. It is perhaps best known as the birthplace of the women’s rights movement due to the Seneca Falls Convention which was held there on July 19th & 20th, 1848 and was the first women’s rights convention. Many believe that Seneca Falls was the inspiration for the for the village of Bedford Falls in the classic holiday movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” due to Frank Capra, the movie’s director having visited there at the time the screenplay was being developed and a number of similarities between the real Seneca Falls and the fictional town of Bedford Falls in the movie. This medal is made of white metal and was struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first settlement of Seneca Falls. It is 1 of only 8 that have been graded by NGC and tied with 1 other at MS-63 as the highest graded example. The overall rarity is R6 (21-75 known).
