Set Description:

When I first joined CGC in 2012 one of my goals was to obtain and then defend a title for the best X-Force Set. Currently I hold the number one Slot in the X-Force (1991) Series Set as well as the X-Force (1994) Series Set but am held back to the number 5 slot for the X-Force (2008) Set and the coveted number 2 ranking of the X-Force (Complete) Set. While I will continue to do what I need to in order to add at this set I started to think back to the necessity of building up the history to this Set. While X-Force did originate in New Mutants there was a specific Creator that realistically gave birth to the idea of them. Rob Liefeld.

It was through his mind in the final run of New Mutants that he began to transition a team of young students into a covert Black Ops team prone to take on missions that no other would. To do what was necessary to help cultivate Xavier’s dream.

It was in Liefeld’s run on New Mutants from Annual #5 to New Mutants #85 and until #100 that we saw the team grow and eventually adopt the new Title of X-Force and it is here where I should really set my sites on building up the history that is X-Force. In order to say I own the coveted X-Force Set I must also be able to say that I have the coveted set of where they began.

I plan to gain Liefeld's Signature on this entire Set. I mean it is called New Mutants Liefeld for a reason. Maybe even add Louise Simonson to a few for some double Sig goodness.

While I know Tnerb and Bagofleas has one hell of a jump here I know it is only a matter of time before I can at least build a Set that can be appreciated by them. What can I say… With this Set, I truly started from the bottom, and in time maybe I can find myself among the top.

*Edit* - So over this past year I have been able to meet one huge goal for this set. Every copy in this set has obtained the 9.8 grade. The only thing I am lacking though is a 9.8SS signed copy for every spot. In total I have been able to get 20 of the 22 books in this set signed and out of the 22 on here all but one has been signed by Rob Liefeld and is currently either shown here or at CGC itself.

This set has been a true labor of love and having gained the top spot for even a short time has been amazing. I’m almost there with my goal for this set, 100% 9.8SS Completion signed entirely by Rob Liefeld. I think the only one I’m worried about getting signed by Rob is the 95 2nd print as currently it’s the only 9.8SS copy out there.
